GPS Reference Network in Greenland

The National Survey and Cadastre -Denmark (KMS) is responsible for the definition and maintenance of the geodetic GPS reference network in Greenland -REFGR. REFGR is based at the ITRF94 reference frame (epoch August 1996) with IGS stations in Canada and Europe as reference stations. In 1996 four primary stations were established and observed for 13 days. The following years up to 2001 the network was extended. The stations are mainly established in settlements and towns, and at least two REFGR stations are established in each of the 85 settlements and towns in Greenland. The total number of stations in REFGR is 258.
