UPDATING GAS TURBINE HEAT RECOVERY STEAM GENERATOR TECHNOLOGY

In the combined cycle power plants the heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) plays an important role on plant availability and economics. The main figures of this role are: · Much of approximately 31 GW of gas-fired combined-cycle went commercial in 2001 only in the US and approximately 65 GW worldwide. Basing on the fact that the cost of HRSG is ranging from 10 to 15% of total combined cycle cost and considering a combined cycle average capital cost of 500 USD/kW, the total world market for year of HRSG could stay between 3250 to 4800 million USD per year. · The HRSG is one of the key component of combined cycle transferring the exhaust gas heat to the steam cycle. The performances of the combined cycle are depending from this component. This paper will underline the basic design considerations, the main topics, updated improvements, new design and repair approaches relating to this very important combined cycle component.
