By far, Korean economy has characterized production-pushing growth based on export demand rather than domestic demand-pulling growth at the traditional industries such as automobile, electronics, steel, and shipbuilding etc.. However, the recent development of IT industry is indicating a different aspect from traditional sectors. The demand-led market structure is becoming a key factor in the rapid growth and high competitiveness of IT industry. A statistical estimation using the Granger Causality Test strongly supports the demand-pulling growth pattern of IT industry. Since the demand-pulling growth pattern is expected to evolve into the technology-pushing growth pattern, the recent 'demand-pulling growth of Korea's IT industry' casts an implication to developing countries' economic development strategies.
