In the single sheet tester the magnetic field supplied by the magnetic poles is varying in the plane of the sheet. Representing the magnetic behavior of the specimen in static magnetic field, a 2D field model is appropriate. However, taking into account the induced field in the magnetic specimen the effect of the eddy currents can not be avoid. To close the current loop in the specimen a 3D model for the numerical field analysis has to be developed. To prove the effects of the eddy currents in the thin conducting sheet, and the differences between the 2D and the 3D models a numerical analysis is developed for the system with non-magnetic, conducting specimen. In the realization of the solution the global variational method combined with the R-functions is introduced.
