Recently, interior permanent-magnet synchronous motors are widely used for compressors of air-conditioners. In engineering point of view, it is very important to estimate the characteristics of the electromagnetic force, when the rotor has a off-center, as well as under a ideal condition. In this paper, we analyze the effects of the off-center of the rotor on the cogging torque and the electromagnetic force using the finite element method.
