摘要

The paper deals with a strength assessment procedure for fatigue design of welded structures based on a local stress criterion. The existing strength criteria for welded details are briefly summarised and differences among local, nominal and structural approaches are discussed. Finally a simplified application of the local approach is described. It is based on an appropriate use of the structural stresses in order to estimate the local stress field, which the fatigue strength depends on.
