A new polymeric permanent polyolefin based antistatic additive has been developed that is in particular functional in polyolefins,providing superior processabiiity to the latter.Evaluation in various matrices reveals its effectiveness in PP,PE,ethylene copolymers,even highly filled ones and ABS.Functionality is determined by the establishment of a continuous microstructure in the interior of the matrix.The substance was found useful for various processing techniques such as blown film and extrusion blow molding.Applications comprise extrusion blow molded bottles and multilayer film constructions where the polymeric additive can be concentrated into specific layers in order to maximise its action without danger of it migrating into other layers .In order to extent its functionality to low relative humidity levels,below 15% RH improved products are under development.
