摘要

The historical evolution of polymer or oligomer pyrolysis shows how organosilicon materials, which initially had no applications in ceramics, became useful intermediates when their chemical properties and structures were elucidated. It is therefore important to develop a fundamental interdisciplinary approach such that effective exploitation of the method can take in industrial technology. This requires contribution from many disciplines with emphasis on the role of chemists in ceramic processing. To synthesise next-generation materials atom by atom, the chemist must interact with ceramists, physicists, engineers, in order to know the impact of the design of its molecule on macroscopic properties. Once this is achieved, modification in terms of the arrangement of the atoms can be used to fulfil the required performance.
