COMBUSTION OF PULVERISED COAL AND THE REDUCTION OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

It seems likely that coal will continue to play a major role in the production of electricity for many years and consequently there will ongoing efforts to reduce its environmental impact. The competing sources for the centralised generation of electrical energy are natural gas, nuclear or the various renewable sources that can have a much smaller environmental impact than coal. The object of this paper is to examine the possible options to reduce the environmental resulting from the combustion of pulverised coal.
