A generalization of the method of lines and its application to Robin problems

A direct method of lines for solving an elliptic equation with Robin boundary conditions numerically will be proposed in this paper. The characteristics of our techniques are based on a fictitious domain and the distribution theoretical approach coupled with the method of lines. In particular, the discrete formula of the Dirichlet to Robin map plays important role.
