The paper describes the emotion processing of Chinese speech synthesis. Emotion analyses were conducted on emotional speech mainly from the viewpoint of prosodic features. The syntactic to emotion mapping was also performed to facilitate the system design. Furthermore, environment which may affect the emotion (mood) of speaker is also analyzed. Finally, the prototype of architecture of environment awareness emotional Chinese speech synthesis system was studied. The results show that the emotion expression included in synthetic speech enhances the expressive force of the system a lot. And, with the function of environment awareness, the emotion can be adapted into new environments automatically.
