The Building and Construction sector has always been referred to as a traditional industry. But from the beginning of the use of New Technologies, construction companies and researchers from all over the world have developed web based models and systems to coordinate all the participants of a design and construction project and to create cooperation working spaces. There are some collaborative projects for the design phase and other models to coordinate and control the site management. Both design and construction management is a collaborative effort involving several individuals and organisations: architect, engineer, client, manufacturer, contractor, etc. Nevertheless, the type and size of organisations taking part of the construction project can be really different. Some of them have already implemented their own web-based technology for the management of their enterprise and others still don't use new technologies. Because of this, it's necessary to develop content guidelines to let all the participants take part of these web-based models for the management of construction projects. In this Paper we will focus on small and medium size enterprises (SME's) related to the construction sector. We will discuss the necessity of general content guidelines for all this models and systems searching for its integration to the enterprise and to the standards (i.e. ISO 9000, ISO 14000, OSHA 18000, etc.). These guidelines should be focused on the contents of the system so as to improve the actual management of each enterprise and to increase the efficiency of the team as a whole.
