Climatic wave spectra for various wave height ranges from long-term wave data measured at five of the National Data Buoy Center's (NDBC) buoy stations in the northern Pacific Ocean were examined. After being normalized, these climatic spectra for various wave height ranges revealed a consistent shape. Minor differences of the normalized climatic spectra among different locations were observed, especially for smaller wave heights. The maximum value of wave spectral energy at each frequency was also examined in this study. An upper limit of the wave spectral energy at the high frequency region was proposed.
