Final state sensitivity of viscoelastic plates under a step load

摘要

The long-time behavior of a viscoelastic nonlinear plate subjected to an in-plane step load is investigated. When the loading amplitude exceeds the creep critical load, the system has and only has two fixed-point attractors, but nonattracting chaotic behavior exists. The final state of the plate strongly depends on the choice of the initial conditions and the system parameters.
