INVESTIGATION OF THE STRUCTURE OF PYROLYZED CoTMPP CATALYSTS

A new type of catalyst is developed produced by impregnation of dispersed SiO_2 -carrier with solution of CoTMPP (Co-tetramethoxyphenylporphirine), heat treatment at elevated temperature in argon and subsequent extraction of the SiO_2-carrier. The catalyst possesses high activity for both the electrochemical oxygen and peroxide reactions and a good stability during long-term operation in electrochemical systems. The new type pyrolysed CoTMPP/SiO_2 catalyst contains the pyrolysis products of the compound CoTMPP only which make possible the investigation of its structure by some physico-chemical methods. Results from the of the investigations of a new catalyst by methods of X-ray, IR and XPS are presented.
