PROSPECTIVE REACTOR PLANTS FOR NEW GENERATION ATOMIC VESSEL

The paper describes OKBM approach to the development of prospective RPs (NS) for new generation nuclear-powered ships, basing on civil and Navy ships propulsion reactor plants designing, manufacturing and operation experience. Their comparative characteristics, technical and economical data and design decisions are considered. Safety provision problems and prospects of cores modernization are considered separately. The paper shows that evolutionary improvement of design solutions and accumulated scientific and technical experience of the designers and industry enable the creation of a contemporary reliable and safe reactor plant for new-generation icebreakers and transport ships during relatively short period of time and at minimal costs. Such reactor plant may be also used as an energy source for floating heat and power co-generation plants and for combined power generating - sea water desalination systems in Russia and in other countries.
