This paper discusses and quantifies a potential error associated with using information on sales of chemical and equipment to estimate emissions of greenhouse gases from long-lived, pressurized equipment, such as air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment, fire suppression equipment, and SF_6-containing electrical equipment.
