摘要

The influence of the excess oxidant on emission rates of nitrogen oxides (NO{sub}X) and particulate material (PM) from boilers using ultra-viscous oils as fuel has been investigated. The number of parameters influencing the rate of those emissions is very high. Therefore, in order to allow conclusions with very low degree of uncertainty, a great amount of samples would be required. Although the present work cannot guarantee that, it has been enough to show that, in the cases of ultra-viscous oils, the simple control of the oxidant excess was not enough to guarantee the combustion conditions to comply with the existing legislation concerning the emission of pollutants. Other complementary methods and techniques should be applied such as: · Staging combustion; · Specially improved fuel atomization.
