摘要

As one of the alternatives to decrease the net CO{sub}2 emissions, the thermal utilization of biomass and wastes has to be considered. Utilization of biomass or sewage sludge as additional fuel in coal combustion systems, however, has consequences on combustion behaviour, emissions, corrosion and residual matter. Therefore, at the beginning of 1993 an EU-project "Combined Combustion of Biomass/Sewage Sludge and Coals of High and Low Rank in Different Systems of Semi-industrial and Industrial Scale" was launched. Under the co-ordinatorship of the Institut fur Verfahrenstechnik und Dampfkesselwesen (TVD), University of Stuttgart, the partners involved in the programme are Aalborg Ciserv International TDK, Berzelius Stolberg /D, Babcock Wilcox Espanola /E, GENET/ D, Centre de Investigaciones Energeticas IE, DMT /D, ELSAM-PROJEKT TDK, ENEL /I, Fechner /D, Imperial College /GB, EStETI /P, International Flame Research Foundation (IFRF), KEMA /NL, Kungl Tekniska Hogskolan (KTH) /S, Midtkraft /DK, Netherlands Energy Research Foundation (ECN) /NL, RWE Energie AG /D, Saarbergwerke AG /D, Stadtwerke Saarbriicken /D, TU Delft /NL, VEAG /D, Vestkraft /DK. Within this project, the effects of burning sewage sludge and agricultural residuals such as straw and manure as well as specially grown energy plants in combination with coals of various ranks and origin have been studied for the most common large-scale systems in order to point out both the optimum and the technically achievable process modifications necessary for co-combustion. The project was started at the beginning of 1993 and lasted for a period of two years only. Within the scope of this paper it is only possible to give an overview and to present some selected results. For more detailed results the reader is referred to the final report (Bemtgen et al. 1995a, b).
