Structural landslides in the Kamienne Gory Mts., Sudetes, SW Poland

The Kamienne Mts. was exposed to extensive deep-seated slope deformations because of favourable geological structure. Hard volcanic and subvolcanic rocks underlain by soft sedimentary rocks form high-energy landscape of residual hills surrounded by flat denudational surfaces. Numerous landslides of almost homogenous shape were recognised during the field works. Most affected landsliding area is Suche Gory Mts., where considerable re-shaping of slopes was recognised. Complex types of landslides of earth and debris slides combine with rotational slide origin were suggested. Also lateral spreading and debris slides processes were identified. Preliminary measurement points structural properties of volcanic rocks in development of extensive mass movements as a major factor. Late Pleistocene or early Holocene age of activity was suggested in previous works. Furthermore, presence of colluvial hollows infilled with organic sediments cause possibility of radiocarbon dating.
