Specific features of the landslide 'Bracin' at the chainage km: 750 + 500 of E-75 international road through Yugoslavia
The landslide "Bracin" was a calm phenomenon till the construction of E-75 motorway started 20 years ago. From then and onwards its activity was growing gradually and thus causing more and more complex problems which were culminating with the overall interruption of traffic along one carriage way in the course of January 1999. The landslide after its reactivation was the subject of investigations carried out in several stages and unsuccessful repairs. It was created within the neogene and quaternary sediments. The most relevant features are distinguished with rather small dimensions (the length being 220-230 m, with the width of approximately 110-160 m), yet with relatively great depth of 12.8 - 15.9 m). It is characterized by a great number of phases of distinct activities which brought about vast deformations within the head scarp zone, located within the motorway's central reserve. In this way, the presentation of the results is being made as regards the most recent complex engineering-geologic investigations of landslides, which among other things encompassed as well the in-situ measurements (piezometers, inclinometers, surveying marks). In such a way, one was in a position to perceive the causes of landslide activation, its mechanism, properties et al. Altogether, this should provide for the permanent repair to be carried out.
