What I want to share with you this morning is a model for predicting CCA disposal volumes. Now, you might ask what I had in mind with the title "Is Florida Overreacting?" It may have just been a way to get you in the room. Actually it is more than that. Florida for many people in our industry is become synonymous with an effort to ban CCA treated wood; an all out attack on something that I Dave Mason correctly referred to on Monday as the backbone of our industry. I've been very close to a number of attacks on the product over the last five years including spending a lot of time right here in Minnesota. I may be a little more sensitive to it that most, but I think it's not an underestimate to say that Florida has really attacked this product. Let's read the newspapers. It's always a good thing to do to turn for information. I don't have anything real current, but this is a good paper. It's The Saint Petersburg Times, a nationally read newspaper. Let's see. "The poison in your back yard." That's not good. "All over the state pressure treated boards and posts are leaking poisonous arsenic into the soil." Poison in the parks? Maybe it gets better as you read a little deeper cause, you know, sometimes they put the really hysterical stuff out front just to get you to read the paper.
