The experiment was conducted at CCS, HAU, Regional Research Station, Karnal, Haryana, during 1998-200lon the ratoon-plant-ratoon crops in sequence. The treatment consisted of control, application of N, NP, NPK, NPKZn, N+ FYM, N+ pressmud and N+ green manuring of daincha in situ, N was added @ 150 kg/ha in plant crop and 225 kg/ha in ratoon crops while the rates of P, K and Zn were 50 kg P_2O_5, 50 kg K_2O and 25 kg ZnSO_4/ha in both plant and ratoon crop. The application of inorganic fertilizers and organic manure significantly I increased the cane yield (tha), cane height (cm), number of intenodes per , cane, sucrose%, CCS% and sugar yield of plant and both ratoon crops over control. The application of N produced the higher cane yield, cane height and no. of internodes/cane over control and application of NP further increased them. The application of NPK increased the cane yield over NP treatment in all years. The maximum cane yield (54.8, 57.63, 58.17 for ratoon-plant-ratoon crops), cane height (202.8, 208, 206.7 for ratoon-plant-ratoon crops) and no. of internodes/cane (20.8, 20.4 and 21.33 for ratoon-plant-ratoon crops) were produced in NPKZn. The treatment of NPK and NPKZn were statistically at par. The application of manure + nitrogen were at par with NP treatment but could not achieve the yield levels as achieved by balanced application of N, P, K and Zn. Maximum sucrose % (19.2, 19.9, 17.8 for ratoon-plant-ratoon) and CCS% (13.88, 14.14 and 12.51 far ratoon-plant-ratoon) and sugar yield (76.06, 81.48, 72.75 q/ha for ratoon-plant-ratoon) were produced in NPKZn treatment. Application of organic manure increased the organic carbon content, available P and K and it was maximum in FYM (0.36 to 0.42, 5 to 6 kg P/ha and 140 to 144 K kg /ha). The application of inorganic fertilizer increased the available P (5 to 7 kg/ha in P application) and K (140 to 150 kg /ha in K application),
