Recently, the installation of optical fiber cables by blowing method has been largely used in long-haul networks around the world due to its high efficiency. The performance of blowing installation varies significantly depending upon the particular characteristics of a given cable. Factors such as cable weight, external diameter, stiffness and cable surface will make a difference in the installation performance. In this paper it is presented the study about influence of the cable surface in the blowing installation. Initially it was used a mathematic model to define the drag force in function of the system variables, and through measurements it was verified some relations between cable surfaces and performance in the installations by blowing method.
