Conservative management of tibial tuberosity fractures in the horse is a viable method of treatment provided no other soft tissue damage exists within the affected stifle. Stifle trauma can be a common cause of lameness in the athletic horse. Traumatic fractures of the tibial tuberosity and surgical treatment with internal fixation has been previously reported. However, implant failure and catastrophic fracture of the tibia are inherent risks associated with recovery from general anesthesia followingrepair. To this author's knowledge, there is no report in the literature that describes the success of conservative management. The purpose of this retrospective study was to evaluate the outcome of conservative management of tibial tuberosity fractures in 15 horses.
