EAF flue dust recycling with dioxin eradication - The ADPL Process

Over the past 10 years the depletion of the ozone layer has put air pollution at the top of the environmental agenda for action. Politicians are now under pressure to demonstrate improvements in areas under their direct jurisdiction. This has lead to country specific acceptance criteria, but in the long term the most environmentally friendly approach will prevail. Cases in point include the treatment of gas and dust emissions from the steel industry. European regulations for these are more stringent than in North America, and the zero waste ADPL process for re-cycling EAF flue dust has been developed in this context. Valuable products are extracted from the toxic EAF dust, the dioxins adsorbed on the surface of the dust are eradicated, and landfilling is reduced.
