This paper deals with a fundamental system performance of a room-temperature magnetic refrigerator using the active magnetic regenerator (AMR). AMR system has four sequential processes: adiabatic magnetization, heat exchange fluid flow, adiabatic demagnetization, and fluid flow. The basic components of the target system are a magnetic circuit, a test section, a fluid displacing system, and an associated instrumentation. Gadolinium particles as a magnetocaloric material are enclosed in the test section in a prescribed packing rate. The details of temperature change in the AMR bed due is observed clearly. The experimental results indicate the AMR cycle for the room-temperature magnetic refrigerator has effectiveness to generate low temperature field.
