摘要

The impact of single water drops on a plane water surface was observed visually to investigate the influence of impact angle and droplet shape on the outcome of collision. We particularly focused on the amount of secondary droplets produced after the impact because of its importance in predicting the critical heat flux in annular flow. Within the experimental rages tested, much larger droplets were produced and consequently much larger amount of secondary droplets was obtained at oblique impact. No secondary droplets were however generated when the impact angle was less than critical value.
