Extrusion Dies for Agglomeration

This paper reviews extrusion die options that are common for the agglomeration of low value, inorganic, bulk materials in high production industrial settings. INTRODUCTION: J.C. Steele is a manufacturer of heavy screw extrusion equipment. The equipment is designed for high production in tough industrial settings. Our extruders were originally developed for use in forming brick, roof tile, sewer pipe and other heavy clay ceramic ware. Extrusion equipment is commonly used to agglomerate clay and non-clay materials into suitable shapes for use in other industrial applications. Although JC Steele has a German sister company (H?ndle) that is adept at 'technical extrusion,” which is the forming of fine intricate shapes such as catalytic converter honeycombs from highly refined, high value materials, J.C. Steele's niche has been the agglomeration of large scale quantities of relatively low value materials for heavy industrial consumption. The following paper is focused on the die technology currently used by J.C. Steele for these applications.
