Effect of continuing stimulation of acupoint CV5 (Shimen) on domestic female cat fertility

Prevention of pregnancy in cats is essential for control of street animal population and reproduction activity. Several contraception techniques have been used in female cats, however, none of then are simple, effective and totally safe (Sorribas, 1995). The most common method of contraception is ovariohysterectomy, but this method is expensive and may be associated with anaesthetic and surgical complications (Johnson, 1994). Therefore, there is a strong support for studies to develop simpler, cheaper and safer techniques (Sorribas, 1995).
