The natural ventilation in a university building (Architecture Hall) has been evaluated. When the building was first constructed in 1909, it operated by natural ventilation. However, some decades later the natural ventilation function was discontinued and most of the building spaces were strictly operated by single-sided window openings or were left unventilated. The building has been renovated recently. During this renovation the natural ventilation function was re-activated. Various performance tests have been conducted to assess the natural ventilation function in the design studios. These tests include, (ⅰ) CO_2 monitoring in occupied spaces, (ⅱ) air exchange measurement, (ⅲ) air velocity measurements, and (ⅳ) air visualization techniques. The last three tests were conducted in unoccupied spaces. Data gathered over the last one year from these tests suggest that the natural ventilation function has not been particularly successful.
