In this paper we discuss a particular topology of a fiber-optic pressure transducer developed recently at the laboratory of Optoelectronics at UQAH. The sensor, which is an extension of our previous polarimetric configuration, was designed to operate using typical telecommunications components at 1300 nm wavelength. The sensing effect is based on induced birefringence modulation occurring in highly bireflingent (HB) optical fibers under the influence of hydrostatic pressure. The presented transducer was developed in a temperature self-compensating optical configuration not requiring any additional electronic network compensation against the temperature artifact.
