Modeling Technological Limitations in All-Optical Networks

In many communication network topologies, realistic routing decisions are affected by the traffic movement constraints between adjacent links. Adjacent link constraints, also know as turn constraints, can model existing restrictions in all-optical networks with full/limited wavelength converters and optical switches. We will present a shortest path algorithm that accounts for turn constraints along with its application to wavelength routing. By incorporating the shortest path algorithm into our proposed simulator, the effects of routing in limited optical network can be further understood.
