The Technology and Application of FEDI on the Internet

Recently, modern financial companies have to provide convenient and efficient services and low-cost EDI for improving the quality of their services. Conventionally, financial EDI (FEDI) could be achieved through closing network called VAN in the past. However, owing to the great progress on Internet technology and the improvement of Internet security, the traditional EDI called VAN-based EDI is now integrated VAN into the Internet, namely Internet-based EDI, which makes FEDI more practical. Therefore, the Internet-based EDI requires Web Pages System and Web Processing System. The main functions of these systems are to provide the users with Web page interface, Web Access Control, exchange of EDI and HTML format, and security management. In this paper, we propose the related technology and model to design Web Pages System and Web Processing System for FEDI, and also list the security management features on the Internet. Then, we will explain the structure and components of FEDI on the Internet, and describe its applications and related e-commerce. In the near future, we can take use of OTP developed by the new standard -XML. The common standard of OTP is to extend Internet-based EDI and also replace VAN-based EDI. There is without format transformation for OTP, and the processing will be much faster. By this way, we can accomplish the goal of e-commerce and further improve the competitive advantages of the industries. Finally, it will bring great opportunities and quick developments for the enterprise.
