As a result of the failure of most of the glass accelerator tube insulators, the IsoTrace model 4130 Tandetron accelerator has been upgraded by re-building the tubes with new glass insulators, improving the alignment of the tube / terminal vacuum housing assembly and by adding a support insulator for the terminal. The engineering rationale, installation procedures and results of this upgrade are discussed.
