SUSTAINABLE OM PERFORMANCE FRAMEWORK: EMERGING BASIS TO REVIEW AND RE-DEFINE OM PRACTICE IN HIGH RISK AND COMPLEX INDUSTRIAL ASSETS

The socio-political and techno-economical challenges are quite high today for oil & gas (O&G) exploration and production (E&P) business worldwide. To manage the risk and to assure long-term commercial success they seems to have adapted what is termed sustainable O&G business practice. This appears to provide a performance framework for O&G producers to communicate the quality of their business activity, to assure commercial success of projects, and thus to achieve competitive advantage. While many of the issues around sustainable business framework still remain ill-defined, we conducted a study to explore how this emerging environment shape guide production asset and operations & maintenance (O&M) performance. This paper discusses some of the important aspects came across during the study. It looks into the strategic link between sustainable policies & strategies, asset performance specifications, and subsequently O&M performance criteria. This has direct implications on the on-going efforts to streamline O&M performance in respect of business policies & strategies to ensure performance integrity, consistency, and quality.
