Systematic design in the development of innovative anchors

The problem of connecting parts on a construction site is as old as construction itself Current problems in civil constructions which are solved with anchors are (see Figure 1): -Anchoring of a structure to concrete foundations, -Anchoring of installations, railings, substrates to a concrete structure -Anchoring of machines to concrete foundations The goal of this contribution is to discuss some of the systematic design methods we use in anchor development at Hilti Corporate Research. In the conclusions the lessons learned when using these methods will be discussed. Hilti is one of the worlds leading companies specialising in the field of fastening and demolition systems in the construction industry. Three of the productlines of Hilti are: Drilling and Chiseling systems. Diamond drilling and Cutting Systems and Anchor Systems. This paper focuses on a development in the anchor systems productline.
