The agent technology and information reference service in digital library

摘要

In this paper, we discuss the importance of information reference service (IRS) and its role indigital library, as well as the differences between in the traditional Library and in digital library. At the same time, we also discuss the contents of the "agent", such as concept, attributes, and playing rules in IRS. Finally, we give some development examples of the agent technology in digital library, and will provide a model example, IIRSS (Intelligent IRS system), that is an application model of Multi-agent information system (MAIS) in IRS.
