Recently, the use of far infrared spectral region FIR, especially in range 8-13 μm is widely discussed. One of the main areas of applications is monitoring of human body for health care. From, the other hand, the health care and banking industries are faced with fraud. There is a need to elaborate the systems that can be used not only for health diagnosis, but also for unique identification of human bodies. This paper discusses the possibility of exploiting of the registration of FIR images and theirs computer aided processing for facial recognition systems. The study was performed on the group of 16 healthy persons. The three-step analysis took place. First the faces were recorded by means of an IR camera. After that various materials, changing the spectral characteristics covered the faces. The changes were mainly due to the thermal effects. The second step involves a registration of the covered faces. The final recording took place after 30 minutes. The thermal characteristics, which were changed in the second step, began to return to the initial stage. The images were analyzed by means of computer image processing. Because thermograms are easy to capture and store as small digitized computer files, facial FIR registration can find applications for identification requirements across many areas, what will be pointed out. The influence of some external substances should be, however, taken into account.
