The solution of NaOH/ethanol is a proper processing medium for modifying the surface properties of PLLA. It could not bring about the severe structural degradation and can improve the hydrophilicity and surface energy of PLLA. It is a convenient method for improving the cell adhesion ability of PLLA by using the aqueous NaOH/ethanol as the surface hydrolysis medium.
