By using the vane-type resonator, it is possible to realize an electrodeless discharge lamp in which the luminous element is reduced in size to approximately 3 mm at 25 W of microwave power. This size is approximately one tenth of the size of luminous elements in conventional electrodeless discharge lamps. Downsizing this luminous part makes it easier to design optical systems and reduces light loss.
