摘要

This study examined the potential of fermented liquid feed (FLF) to suppress coliform numbers in the terminal ileum, caecum and colon of the pig. FLF changed the ratio of Lactobacilli to coliforms in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Coliform populations (log10 CFU ml-1) were reduced to below detectable limits (< 3.0) at the terminal ileum when piglets were fed the FLF, and were highest in pigs given dry feed (8.5). Overall there was a significant reduction in coliform population in the GI tract whenpiglets were fed FLF compared with dry feed.
