Real-time biomolecular interaction analysis (BIA) system (BIAcore) is a biosensor-based device that measures SPR, which detects changes in properties at the surface of a thin gold film on a glass support. This technique has been developed as a very versatile method for the study of biomolecular interaction at surfaces. During real-time BIA measurement, one interactant is immobilized on the sensor surface, which forms one wall of a micro-flow cell. Solution containing the other interactant(s) flows continuously over the sensor surface. This requires that there is no interaction between the interactant(s) in the solution and the blank sensor surface.
