摘要

Several endogenously-generated and redox-active small molecules such as NO and H_2O_2 have been identified as cellular messengers, playing fundamentally important roles in many physiological functions. Their improper generation, action and regulation in vivo have been associated with many important diseases and their pathological processes. For the study of physiological and pathological implications of these redox-active cellular messengers, it is highly desirable to have molecule-specific sensors that are viable for selective and quantitative detection in such bio-media as blood and tissues.
