Satellite-borne Infrared Multispectral Imager

The paper in this conference by Kirkland et al. [1] is based upon multispectral images of the Galactic Center obtained from a satellite-borne multispectral imaging radiometer. The present paper gives an overview of the cryogenically-cooled infrared sensor, called SPIRIT III, used to collect the celestial images. The MSX satellite which carried the sensor was launched into an 898-km polar orbit in April of 1996.
