摘要

This paper highlights the role played by ULC BASED Al_2O_3-SiC-C castable in achieving new trends in performance and cost economy. A variety of castable were developed and tried in different Indian Blast furnaces in integrated Steel Plants in Main runner, Metal runner, Rocking runner and Skimmer block entirely or area wise depending on the practice prevalent there. Properties and influence of various raw materials studied and their role has been discussed. The properties of castable applied are detailed with respect to the operational requirements. The castable formulations are selected on the basis of properties and erosion behavior on simulative rotary drum testing. Finally the application details relating the runner design and lining thickness is taken up to correlate with achievement of increased hot metal throughput.
