The Role of Inconsistency in Information Systems

The handling of inconsistent information is very important in various information systems. Despite the fact, many researchers appear to neglect the importance. In this paper, we sketch the outline of fuzzy interpretations of inconsistent information by using paraconsistent and fuzzy logics. Paraconsistent logics can deal with inconsistency, and fuzzy logics can formalize incompleteness. We propose to combine these logics to furnish fuzzy interpretations of inconsistent information. Several possibilities are considered and compared.
