Some polluted sites are made up of silt and clay with pollution which reaches quite a considerable depth: here, traditional "in situ" remediation has notable limits and difficulties because of low permeability and depth of intervention. Efforts to overcome this problem have not been documented, if at all. We have, in fact, found no previous documentation on approaches to tackling this problem. In the light of our own recent field experiences, this problem can be overcome by an innovative application of In Situ Deep Landfarming (up to 7 meters below ground surface) in combination with "Pump & Treat".
