Development of a process control Simulink block library

摘要

A developing simulink block library is described which contains elements to assist the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in process control. The library contains specialised component blocks for basic and unit processes, such as a pump, a tank, a pipe, a control valve, a heat exchanger, a chemical reactor and a distillation column. Instrumentation component blocks are also included such as a transducer and actuator together with controller blocks. The library is a supplement to the simulink environment and enables the dynamics and control of a variety of process systems to be illustrated and investigated. An example of a chemical reactor and heat exchanger process is given to demonstrate the utility of the current state of the library.
