Late auditory evoked potentials (LAEPs) were recorded following the binaural presentation of nonsense speech and acoustically similar noise. Data collected from five males and five females from 64 electrodes over their scalps. The major components of LAEP (N1, P2, N2) were detected. Using an EEG mapping technique (LORETA) sources of evoked responses to nonsense speech stimuli were located in the left temporal region. However, for noise stimuli, sources of activity were detected primarily in the fronto-central region. Various scattered areas of activity in the brain were also noticed for both of stimuli.
